Mini Chainsaws With A Carry Case

A Pick of Mini Chainsaws With a Carry Case

Mini Chainsaws with a carry case
Unlike most traditional chainsaws, mini chainsaws are small and somewhat fiddly tools.

They also come with bits and pieces that are (mostly) needed to keep them operating.

Having said that, they often also come with a whole bunch of “non essential” extras that are thrown in to sweeten the package deal when you buy the mini saw.

These might include extra chains, maybe an extra bar, an extra battery, safety goggles, some basic tools etc etc.

The bottom line is that you will often end up with a mini chainsaw and a lot of “stuff”.

This is where the convenience of a carry case comes in!

(If you are in a rush you can see a whole bunch of them here)

A small chainsaw case allows you to keep the mini chainsaw and all the extras together in one place. Even better, everything has its place in that case 🙂

This makes the mini saw easy to find when you need it AND easy to transport if you need to take it somewhere with you. On a camping trip for example.

The next question is this:

Is it a carry case or bust?

Mini chainsaw with carry case There are lots of mini chainsaws with a carry case on the market. There are also a lot sold without any sort of case!

So how important is the case in your buying decision?

It’s obviously a personal preference

However, there are probably enough GOOD mini chainsaws on the market WITH a carry case.

So you probably don’t need to sacrifice quality and performance in order to buy a mini chainsaw that comes with a case to store it in.

If we assume the carry case is a given, then what other factors should you be looking at?

In a nutshell:

  • Electric Motor specs
  • Chain speed (Not always stated but useful if it is)
  • Safety Features
  • Additional batteries
  • Overall package extras
  • Operational Weight
  • Price

6 Mini Chainsaws With a Carry Case

So why six? As we have said, there are literally hundreds of mini chainsaws on the market which are sold with a case.

The idea here is to give you a sample of what is available. One example of a top of the range and one example of a  middle to bottom range mini chainsaw from each of the 4-inch bar, 6-inch bar and 8-inch bar market segments.

4-Inch Bar Mini Chainsaws With a Case

The Amazing Omola

4 inch bar mini chainsaw with carry caseThis little beauty is in a class of its own when it comes to 4-inch bar chainsaws.

It has all the positive features of a bigger mini chainsaw all packed into a 4-inch bar mini saw that punches well above its weight.

The absolutely biggest plus of this mini chainsaw is the brushless motor. A brushless motor has so many advantages over the more common (in this mini saw market segment) copper motor.

See more on the advantages of a brushless motor here.

Add in an automatic oiler, safety baffle and lock switch and a very respectable chain speed of 13,3 m/s (43 ft/sec) then there is not much more you can ask of this tool.

The price is at the top end …..but then so is the tool, so no complaints there.

The JPOWTECH

4 inch mini chainsaw with carry case On the other end of the price scale is the JPOWTECH

If you compare the pictures you can see the differences in marketing philosophy. The Omola is all about the saw, while the JPOWTECH  saw has the bare essentials but a lot of extras that go to make up the package.

And the more goodies there are, the more need for a case to keep them altogether! 🙂

That is not to say there is anything wrong with this mini saw.

It has a very similar buyer review rating on Amazon to the Omola. However, at half the price the buyer expectations should be lower.

So it will all depend on what you want your 4-inch chain saw to  accomplish for you.

6-inch Mini Saws with a Case

Imoumlive 6-inch bar Chainsaw

Mini Chainsaws with a carry case
This Imoumlive 6-inch bar mini saw sits on top of the 6-inch bar category in many respects.

We keep on harping on about the advantages of having an electrical tool driven by a brushless motor, but the advantages are so real and numerous that you definitely need a good reason to NOT buy one with a brushless motor.

Price might be a compelling argument…..but even then….you get what you pay for etc.

Anyhow. This has a brushless motor, and has all the safety features that are beginning to become standard on 6 inch mini chainsaws.

Perhaps the one safety feature lacking is a trigger guard. However, for reasons unknown, this doesn’t seem to be a big issue in the 6-inch bar market segment.

For interest sake and comparison, have a look at this competitor in the same price range.(Interestingly this one also comes in 4-inch bar and 8-inch bar configurations)

Foachia

6-inch mini chainsaw with case
This one is included for two reasons.

Firstly it represents an example of a 6-inch bar chainsaw that comes with a carry case but is priced at the lower end of the market. This point is self explanatory when you look at the price compared to (even the 4-inch bar) examples above.

Secondly, it is an example of why you have to not accept everything at face value.

The issue here is, yes, it comes with a carry case. The problem is this. You need to take the bar and chain off for the saw to fit into the case!!

Now if you look at the picture, it plainly shows that the saw, in operational mode, doesn’t fit into the carry case supplied.

So there is no real deception being practiced here. Its just that most of us would make the assumption that if the manufacturer is going to sell a small tool with a carry case, then the tool would fit into the case as is.

Apparently not…..

So do be aware of these things. It is unfortunately not that uncommon in this class of tool.

8-inch Mini Chainsaws with a Case

The Seesii 8-inch

8 inch bar mini chainsaw with carry case
The Seesii 8-inch mini chainsaw with carry case is one of the few mini chainsaws in this sector that comes with a carry case.

As we have noted before, 8 inch mini chainsaws are beginning to encroach on the more traditional chainsaw bar length (mostly 10-inch bars and up).

So there are not that many of them on the market to choose from.

However, they definitely have a place in the market, and possibly in your workshop or garage. In which case,  its certainly handy to have a case to store it in.

And the good news is that this one actually fits into the storage case without having to dismantle it! 10 points for common sense here.

This one has all the bells and whistles one would expect from this price range. Brushless motor, self oiling, safety features etc etc. Tick, tick, tick – all there.

You can compare this with a similar product at the top end of the price scale here

Another Seesii 8-inch bar

8 inch mini chainsaw with carry case
And at the other end of the price range we have another Seesii

The interesting point about this tool is that it is not equipped with a brushless motor.

This probably accounts for the majority of the price difference between this one and the one above.

Compare this with the Kebtek that is more or less the same price but has a brushless motor.

In conclusion

Do you really need a carry case to store your mini chainsaw?

As we have seen, some top rated mini chainsaws come with a carry case, while others do not.

The choice boils down to personal preference really.
