Who Actually Needs an Upgraded 8-inch Mini Chainsaw?
Are upgraded 8-inch mini chainsaws worth considering? The reason we ask this question is this. There is not much physical difference between an 8-inch bar and a 10-inch bar.
However there could be a world of difference in performance between the two given that a 10-inch bar chainsaw is most likely designed along more traditional chainsaw lines.
So we are getting into that difficult space in deciding whether to go high end on a smaller tool or low end on a bigger tool.
However, there are still some very good reasons one might prefer to buy a mini chainsaw. These include:
- Lightweight and therefore easier to use for many gardeners/campers.
- More maneuverable especially when pruning smaller or plants with thick foliage in the garden
- Use one handed
- Battery powered so very mobile
So lets have a look at what this upgraded 8-inch bar mini chainsaw has to offer.
Introducing…..
The Hychika 8-inch Upgraded Mini Chainsaw
Apart from the 8-inch bar length which allows you to tackle larger jobs, the Hychika has several upgraded features to recommend it .
These include:
-
- Upgraded to a brushless motor! Always, always worth considering even if that pushes the price up a bit. They have so many advantages over the normal copper electrical motors. However, they are still in the minority in mini chainsaws, so this is a big plus.
- Chain speed of 25ft/sec (7,62 m/sec) which is not at all shabby for a mini chainsaw (and courtesy of the brushless motors)
- Self lubricating bar and chain system. And the oil tank is semi transparent which allows the operator to easily keep an eye on the oil level. Its actually amazing how many self oiling mini chainsaws don’t have any way for you to check the oil level other than stopping what you are doing and opening the cap to have a look!
- Safety upgrades include a chain baffle to prevent sawdust being spun into your eyes when cutting. A hand guard over the trigger area and …..
- A safety switch that can be operated from either the left OR right side of the tool. That’s a big plus for left handed people using the saw
At 4.5 pounds (2kg), which includes the attached battery, this is a very effective mini chainsaw that is should easily cope with most small jobs required of a mini chainsaw.
Another Upgraded 8 Inch Mini Chainsaw
The 8-inch Seesii (pictured left) actually looks quite different to the Hychika above but is not that different in terms of specs.
The upgrades claimed here relate mainly to safety and include:
- An innovative splash guard that looks and works quite differently to the industry standard type.
- Hand guard
- Trigger safety lock switch
Weighing in at 4.47 pounds (2.03kg) it is virtually identical to the Hychika.
AND it also has a brushless motor – Yay!!
There aren’t too many 8 inch mini chainsaws on the market, let alone upgraded ones! However, you can check out a few other 8-inch mini chainsaws here
And Finally
So the final question remains as before. What suits you best? A big mini chainsaw or a small regular chainsaw?
Only you can answer that question 🙂
