Why Buy a Mini Chainsaw That Uses DeWalt 20V Max Batteries?
DeWalt 20V Max batteries are a top class battery. What has that to do with which mini chainsaw you buy?
Small electric chainsaws are wonderful tools that can help you out around your house, your garden, when out camping, clearing a trail etc. The list goes on and on.
In short, they are a very useful piece of equipment to keep close at hand.
They do come with one potential problem though.
The Problem
Many of these mini chainsaws, particularly those with 6-inch bars or smaller, are not made by well known chainsaw brands.
And neither are their batteries.
This has 2 implications:
– The supplied battery or batteries are often of dubious quality.
– Finding replacement batteries can be a nightmare, and often just plain impossible.
So when a battery fails, you are often left with a useful tool that can no longer function. And with no obvious or easy way to replace the battery!
Very, very, frustrating!
The Solution
It has taken a while, but at last some mini chainsaw brands have acknowledged this problem.
Their elegant and simple solution?
Make a mini chainsaw that uses a battery supplied by a well known chainsaw brand that is readily available.

Some of these come with the battery included, and some do not.
Most of them have the features that you want in these small type chainsaws.
i.e. powered by a brushless electric motor and have an inbuilt oiler to ensure the chain and bar remain well lubricated which = improved longevity of both the chain and bar.
Now obviously, for those that do not come with the battery, acquiring the battery is an additional expense.
BUT, if you already have DeWalt tools then you may already have a 20V Max Dewalt battery that you can just slot straight onto the mini chainsaw.
OR, if this is your first purchase of a DIY type electrical power tool, then DeWalt has a huge range of other electrical tools that operate with the same 20V Max battery. So you could acquire a range of other useful tools that all operate with the same battery.

The smallest DeWalt mini chainsaw (at the moment) has an 8 inch bar, so if you want anything smaller then you will need to go for one of those featured further up the page.
These chainsaws are a cut above the others in terms of quality.
The 12 inch bar Dewalt chainsaw is of course bigger and thus has applications beyond those of the smaller 6 inch bar chainsaws. This might be an advantage – or not,
You will need to decide on that.
But either way, having a proven and easily available battery to power your mini chainsaw removes the very real prospect of having a perfectly good tool that you can no longer use because you haven’t got/can’t find a suitable replacement battery!
