Mini Chainsaws That Use 24V Greenworks Batteries

If you are in the market for a mini chainsaw, then Greenworks have a few small chainsaws that could fit the bill.

There are several advantages to buying one of these 24V battery powered Greenworks chainsaws that may not be immediately apparent.

But before we get there, below are some of the options we are talking about.

Small battery operated chainsaws are becoming more and more popular for a variety of people who traditionally wouldn’t have considered owning a chainsaw.

This is because they are small, easy to operate, are relatively quiet, and fairly environmentally friendly.

In other words, the complete opposite to the traditional gas powered chainsaw.

Why Greenworks?

The problem with many mini chainsaws  ( particularly 4, 6 and 8 inch bar lengths) is that they are made and/or marketed by brands that are not well known chainsaw brands.

This often means that sourcing replacement chains and batteries for them can be difficult, if not impossible! The cheapest option often turns out to be to throw them out and buy another one.

This is obviously not the case when you buy a Greenworks chainsaw.

Greenworks are a well recognized brand that make not only chainsaws but a whole range of other small electrical power tools that are also powered by the same 24V Greenworks batteries.

Here are a selection of those 24V Greenworks batteries.

These are the  advantages of buying a 24V Greenworks chainsaw instead of a – probably slightly cheaper – no name brand chainsaw.

The Advantages

As a well known brand, a Greenworks chainsaw has a genuine long term track record of performance.

Secondly, they have a variety of 24V batteries that will fit your chainsaw. You can thus equip your chainsaw with the battery capacity that suits your needs.

To illustrate, the 5.0Ah battery shown above will last much longer than the 2.0Ah battery. It has more capacity (and thus costs more).

So if you only use your small chainsaw for odd jobs that last a few minutes, then the 2.0Ah battery should be more than sufficient. It is also then more likely that you will only need the 6 inch bar mini chainsaw and not one of the bigger chainsaws.

NB – You wont need more than a 2Ah battery for the 6 inch bar mini chainsaw

However, if you use your chainsaw fairly frequently and for a variety of different jobs, then a larger capacity battery (and a 10 or 12 inch bar chainsaw) is perhaps a better option.

Further, back up or replacement batteries are easy to source. This means that you don’t need to replace your chainsaw if the battery stops working for whatever reason.

Also, Greenworks batteries are far superior to those normally sold with no namebrand mini chainsaws. So if you do have to replace a battery, it’s likely that you have had great service from it. (ALL batteries eventually run out of oomph!)

And finally, if you are a DIY type of person, then you can acquire a whole variety of Greenworks 24V power tools that all operate with the same 24V Greenworks battery.

The Disadvantages

None really, unless you already have a selection of battery powered tools by a brand that also has interchangeable batteries.

In that case, they might also have a suitable small chainsaw in their range.

Or not 🙂
