Are Cheap 6 Inch Mini Chainsaws Worth The Price?

Finding Cheap 6 Inch Mini Chainsaws

[no_toc]
Cheap 6 inch mini chainsaw Finding  cheap 6-inch mini chainsaws with a decent track record is not that simple.

And by cheap we mean under 50 US dollars.

In fact the selection in that price bracket is so small that we will also look at some that fall into the US$50 to US$60 bracket for the sake of comparison.

And if you are happy to pay more than that then take a look at these 6-inch mini chainsaws

Buying cheap is not always ideal and can come with a host of “to be expected” problems. However, with a bit of insight into these potential problems and how to overcome or circumvent them, a cheap 6-inch mini saw might be more than adequate for your needs!

So here we go with:

6 Inch Mini Chainsaws Under $50

Lets start with the one that appears to have the longest time in the market and/or the most reviews from confirmed buyers.

The LareGin 6 inch mini saw

This mini saw (pictured at the start of the article) sneaks in just below the $50 price cut off and just above the Amazon 4 star (out of 5) rating by buyers. So its on the cusp in more ways than one.

The motor in this tool has  been upgraded to a brushless motor which gives its overall attractiveness a huge boost.

Having said that, getting a brushless motor as well as everything listed in the package (see picture) is almost too good to be true.

As would be expected with a rating nudging just above 4 stars, people have had very different experiences with this tool. Some are very impressed, others not so much.

This is likely due to two scenarios.

  • Firstly the quality control on these cheap mini saws is not always that good, so its very possible to purchase a dud.
  • Secondly, it is quite evident that many first time buyers aren’t aware for example, that a chainsaw chain will stretch after initial use.

That’s got nothing to do with the quality of the mini saw but people do mark them down if they are not aware that this is entirely normal and, in fact, expected.

So this is a good option with a few potential pitfalls which probably sums up all cheap mini chainsaws on the market! 🙂

The Motosaha

6 inch cheap mini chainsawThis one has many of the issues of the Laregin above, including the fact that they seem to be stand alone saws.

In other words, they don’t come from a manufacturer or marketer that deals with a range of similar mini chainsaws and thus have some experience with them.

This is always a bit of a problem if things go wrong as very often the people you are dealing with aren’t “mini chainsaw” or even “chainsaw” people.

Having said that, its probably not much different to buying one from a large department store that has a small hardware section added on at the back somewhere.

And there are a good number of people who have been quite satisfied with this mini saw so lets not write it off as a non starter. The package has everything you would need plus a few spares and a case to store it all in.

Just don,t expect to cut a forest down with it 🙂

And The Rest

All the following mini saws have 6-inch bars and sell for below $50 (at the time or writing), but don’t have enough of a track record as yet to draw any solid conclusions from buyer reviews.

We will simply list them here and you can click on them and go have a closer link if interested. Do remember that at this price, they will have definite limitations, some which you will be able to overcome or circumvent, but some you wont.

In essence, you get what you pay for unless you are very lucky…..or unlucky! 🙂

Coolfix Tool & Equipment
6 inch cheap mini chainsawJust be aware that Colfix offers a range of variations on the theme that are a bit complicated to follow.

On the left is their base line 6-inch mini chainsaw offering.

If you click through you will also find two 4-inch options and another two six inch options with varying prices that don’t necessarily make sense.

The variances are around what extras come with the package while the basic mini saw remains the same.

Do your homework if you are considering this option so you end up with what you want.

Its not a lot, but its something 🙂

So now lets go slightly upmarket

The $50 to $60 bracket

We now get into that space where you will find some sellers trying their luck by pushing the price up over $50 even if the saw probably doesn’t warrant that price.

On the other hand, you will also find a few mini saws being sold at just shy of $60 which could be sold for more but the seller is looking for market share!

And just to complicate things, everything in between!

So its an interesting bracket to go shopping in!

There are also more options to choose from so we are going to be a bit picky, but for an overall view you can go here

PS If you find anything in this bracket with a brushless motor then think long and hard before you discard it as an option!

Lets start with an interesting option
The (cheap) Seesii 6-inch mini saw

cheap 6 inch bar mini chainsawSeesii make a range of mini chainsaws from 4-inch bars all the way up to 10-inch bars. So they have some experience in this field.

They also have some models with brushless motors and some without.

This (pic on the left) is the basic model and a basic package being offered at a discounted price (at time of writing).

Apart from the fact that this model doesn’t have a brushless motor, it comes with a decent pedigree and everything you need to do the small pruning jobs around the garden.

So not a bad option at all.

You can see the other Seesii mini saw options here
Onto 2 other options.

Bei & Hong

6 inch mini chainsawThe Bei & Hong comes in at the top end of the price bracket.

It also comes from a manufacturer that produces a range of mini chainsaws and thus knows a thing or two about them.

This is supported by the fact that the manufacturer has acknowledged that there were issues with the motor and battery and have now upgraded the package to over come these issues.

Still not a brushless motor, but upgraded none the less.

It also comes with a fairly comprehensive package of extras to sweeten the deal for you.

There is also an option which comes with both a 4-inch and 6-inch bar but that pushes the cost up over our $60 limit.

However, below you will see one such option that falls within the price range.:)

The Afruey 6 (and 4)-inch Mini Saw

cheap 6 inch mini chainsawThis Afruey offers you both a 4-inch and 6-inch guide bar in the same package.

Effectively you get 2 saws in one!

Is that a good idea?

Sort of depends on what you want the saw to do.

Granted it gives you options, but is there much you absolutely need a 4-inch bar for that you can’t accomplish with a 6-inch bar?

And how solid will that bar interface prove if you keep fiddling to change the bar? Having said, none of the buyers have pegged that as a problem!

And Finally

So the above should give you a good idea of what is available in this price bracket and are probably the best available in terms of track record and buyer satisfaction.

There are of course other brands and makes available and you can find them by sorting through these pages.

Or you can rethink your strategy about chainsaws completely and start the search again on ChainsawChoices.com

Good luck!
