6 Inch Mini Chainsaws with a Brushless Motor

Why 6-inch Mini Chainsaws with a Brushless Motor?

greenworks 6"chainsaw with a brushless motor

Known Brand name * mini chainsaw + brushless motor = aWinner!

There is a lot to consider when one considers buying 6″ mini chainsaws with a brushless motor

However, if you are in a rush then click here to go have a look at a variety of mini chainsaws, many featuring brushless motors. But remember, they may vary considerably in other aspects which you will need to take into consideration.

So if you have the time, stick with us and we will show you a selection of 6-inch bar mini chainsaws with a brushless motor!

But first, back to the topic!

When all is said and done, mini chainsaws with a brushless motor just have so much more to offer in terms of:

Power – lots more power (up to/in the region of 75% more)for the same size electrical motor. That is a massive advantage when the tool is designed to be small and light and hence the size of the electrical motor is accordingly small by necessity!

Reduced energy consumption. A rare real life more (power) for less(energy) situation.

Less noise pollution.  Kinder to your ears and anyone within earshot.

Less friction inside the motor. The design of the brushless motor mitigates against the massive friction common to the normal electric motor.

All the above combine to deliver a far increased longevity of the motor, and thus also the tool.

Now combine a brushless motor with a 6-inch bar and chain and you have a very useful small cordless tool that can be put to good use around the garden, on camping trips, in your workshop and the list goes on.

Our Selection of 6-inch Brushless Mini Chainsaws.

So here we go. They are listed in order of price (at least at the time of writing…..things change). Highest to lowest price.

Its worth pointing out again that, generally, you get what you pay for!

Milwaukee M12

The Milwaukee stands out from the crowd due to its innovative design. It’s distinctive looks certainly indicate that this is not a copy cat design.

And the price differential reflects this approach as well!

Weighing in at under 5 pounds and powered by a brushless motor, this little saw can cut its way through most anything (wooden) under 5 inches in diameter.

Its probably the best 6-inch brushless mini saw out there….but it will hit you in the pocket!

And please be aware that you might have to buy the battery and charger separately!!
So perhaps consider the next one one the list.

Greenworks 24V Chainsaw

greenworks 6 inch brushless chainsaw This small Greenworks chainsaw is a fairly recent addition to their ever growing range of 24V battery powered tools
And whats not to like about it?

Here you also get a well known brand, a brushless motor and the package includes a battery and charger.

NB. Even better, you can buy this mini saw without the battery and charger if you have bought those previously with another of their 24V power tools!

So that is definitely a plus and a solid indication that Greenworks is thinking about their customers.

One small drawback. It doesn’t have an automatic oiler, so you need to manually apply oil to the bar and chain on a regular basis.

Slightly irritating, but not a deal breaker for most people.

Imoumlive Mini Chainsaw

6 inch mini chainsaw with brushless motorThe Imoumlive 6-inch bar mini saw has just about everything you can feasibly attach to a small battery driven tool.

Apart from the brushless motor, it features:

A self oiling system to lubricate the bar and chain which decreases friction at their interface and improves cutting and chain longevity.

Anti sawdust baffle positioned above the chain to help stop sawdust and wood chips from flying into your face.

A trigger lock to prevent accidental starting of the chainsaw which could lead to a nasty accident.

Two 2Ah 21V batteries that will have you looking for more stuff to cut before they run out of steam!

You also get a second chain, a variety of tools and a storage box.

With a chain speed of 20ft/sec (6.1m/s) this is a pretty complete package all in all which should cope with any job suitable for this size bar.

NaTiddy

6 inch mini chainsaw with brushless motorThis NaTiddy Mini Chainsaw has everything the Imoumlive has….except there is no automatic oiler included!

So you will need a little bottle of oil to apply to the chain and bar at regular intervals to prevent unnecessary wear and tear of those 2 (crucial) parts of the saw.

Another difference is in the performance department where it has a lower chain speed of 17ft/sec (5.2m/s). The higher the chain speed the more efficient the cutting will be.

So are those two factors that worth the price difference?

Your decision 🙂

Beartrain 6-inch Mini Saw

6-inch bar mini saw with brushless motorAgain, on the surface, much the same offering as the Imoumlive but actually not quite on a par.

The chain speed at 19,6ft/sec (6m/s) is close enough and this saw does have an automatic oiler.

It has a “ruler” attached which might be of use to a few people but looks more like a gimmick than a genuinely useful accessory.

The chain baffle is flimsy and many buyers make the point that it is not very practical. Likewise the batteries came in for a bit of stick in terms of operating time.

So a chainsaw that seems to have it all but perhaps does not meet everyone’s expectations?

An alternative to this is the OICGOO 6-inch mini chainsaw that clocks in at the same price and is almost a carbon copy in all respects. Apart from the gimmicky “ruler” that is.

Its actually pretty difficult to choose between saws in the mid price range as they each have something to offer, and, invariably, they each seem to have some short comings that make choosing one feel like you are getting the best of a bad lot.

Having said that, many people are super happy with both products so it really does just depend on what you want the mini saw for and how hard you plan to work it.

Perhaps one that you could/should also consider?
mini chainsaw with brushless motorWe are throwing this in here because of its clean, uncomplicated design.

Also – Seesii make a range of mini chainsaws and so they have a good idea of what works and what doesn’t.

Add to that is the fact that if you are producing more than one model of mini chainsaw then you have “skin in the game” so to speak. In other words, you have an interest in the industry sector and have committed resources to it.

Never a bad thing!

V-MODEST

6- inch mini chainsaw with brushless motorThe V-Modest is further down the price scale, but still offers a brushless electrical motor to power it along.

However, this motor is rated at 300W while the others are up around the 600W mark.

It also lacks any sort of self oiler and in fact the manufacturer states that you can use the saw without oil. Probably not a good idea so be prepared to get yourself a little oil bottle and to oil the bar and chain from time to time when in use.

You will also notice that this one has a trigger guard while some of the more expensive options don’t.

The jury is probably still out on whether this design feature is a genuine safety feature or if it could actually interfere with e.g. pruning when the foliage is dense.

This is particularly so when the trigger can’t be activated without the lock button being held down at the same time.

Which is the case in all of these mini saws mentioned here.

The GoCheer is an alternative in this price range.

And Finally

2 Bottom Feeders (Price Wise)

6 - inch mini chainsaw with brushless motor

Bei & Hong

So these 2 come in towards the (very) bottom end of the price range for a 6-inch bar and chain mini chainsaw equipped with a brushless motor.

And yet neither of them are new to the market. In fact its possible that the Bei & Hong has been around much longer than any of the examples above.

Which does suggest that there are many satisfied customers out there who have had good service from this tool!

Mini chainsaw with Brushless Motor

GianTech

The Giantech is less well rated and has a shorter track record.
One of the beefs about this one has nothing to do with its performance!

The problem is that, fully assembled, it doesn’t fit in the carry case provided! No sense in that at all and one wonders what the manufacturer was thinking when they made that decision?

A Final Offering

Upgraded ZNP

This mini chainsaw has been upgraded to include a brushless motor.

The fact that it has been upgraded means it was worth upgrading in the first place!

(You can see other upgraded 6 inch mini chainsaws here)

So nothing too remarkable here but clean lines, and a few extras to make the package more attractive at an already attractive price.

And on top of that, no real complaints from buyers. Has to say something about the product!

In Conclusion

As we have stated a few times before. We are at the point in the evolution of small battery powered tools that you probably need a good reason NOT to buy one with a brushless motor!

Price is one possible reason. But as we see here, that price gap between mini chainsaws with a brushless motor, and those without, is beginning to shrink.

So go brushless, or don’t….your choice.

Of course, there are also other options.
