Mini Chainsaws with a LED Light

Mini Chainsaws with a LED light Shine On!

Mini Chainsaws with a LED light do exist although they are perhaps not that common.

So why would you want a mini chainsaw that has a LED light built in?

For most of us, a LED light and a mini saw or chainsaw just don’t go hand in hand.

But thinking about it, it could be a pretty useful addition to any mini chainsaw if you are likely to be using it in small, dark places.

Or if you prefer doing your garden pruning after sundown! 🙂

In any event, from a mini chainsaw user point of view, if you need a light to illuminate your work then you have a decision to make:

  • Buy a mini chainsaw with an inbuilt LED light and thus limit your choice of mini chainsaw?
  • Alternatively, buy a chainsaw of your choice and sort out your lighting some other way.

Its a question worth considering.

But for now, lets look at selection of mini chainsaws that have inbuilt LED lights for convenience.

6 Inch Mini chainsaws with a LED Light

Taranzy Mini Saw
6 inch mini chainsaw with LED lightThis Taranzy Mini chainsaw has a LED light and a lot more to offer.

Unfortunately not a brushless motor, but it has a lot of other features that are useful and the whole package is well priced.

First point of significance is that this mini saw has been upgraded.

Always a good sign. Plus the 4+ star rating on Amazon after over 250 odd reviews indicates that they have got a lot right and have many happy buyers.

Perhaps one of the more unusual features for a mini saw is the chain brake. They are almost mandatory on normal chainsaws, but not very common on mini chainsaws. So full marks to them for this practical safety feature!

The whole package (as seen in the picture above) features spare chains, 2 batteries, a few odds and sods and a carry or storage case which is always useful to keep everything together in one place.

Just a note on keeping the bar and chain oiled (which is a must do if you want the whole thing to operate smoothly and for a long time)!

The saw is not self oiling. The seller has included a little bottle to use …….but NO oil. So get yourself some bar and chain oil and invest in the longevity of your mini saw!

One final comment. With a chain speed just short of 6m/sec (19.2ft/sec) it is comfortably within the “norm” for mini chainsaws.

As for the LED light. Well it’s powered by @1V, 2aH lithium ion batteries, so there will be no shortage of light while you work!

SALATI Mini Saw

This mini saw could, in many respects, be seen as a direct competitor of the Taranzy above.

One exception!

At the time of writing this was brand new with only 2 buyers having done a review (both gave it 5 stars for what its worth). So time in the market to be truly buyer tested is lacking.

The flip side of that is you save a fair bit of money if you are willing to take the chance on a newby in the market.

Its a bit of a conundrum with no quick fix.

Also just a small NB – no oil bottle and no oil for lubricating the bar and chain.

If you are concerned about price and time in the market, then perhaps this next example will tick both of those boxes for you!

The Najiaxiaowu Mini Saw

mini chainsaw with LED lightThis saw has time in the market, a decent number of reviews, all the normal safety features, the required LED light BUT..

NO storage case! 🙁

So you will need to find something suitable to put all these bits and pieces in to keep it all together.

Also no oil bottle or oil supplied so that will be an extra expense.

So its cheaper on the face of it, but perhaps, after adding in a storage/carry case, some gloves and so on, there isn’t going to be huge price differential after all.

So that was a brief selection of 6-inch mini saws with a built in LED light.

Lets now have a look at some smaller (and cheaper) possibilities

4 Inch Mini Chainsaws with an Inbuilt LED Light

We have selected just two options here (there are obviously more available on the market) but both are well market tested and not too different in price.

First up is:

The Soyus 4-inch Mini Saw

4 inch mini chainsaw with LED lightUnlike most of the other mini saws on this page, Soyus actually produce/market more than one model of mini saw. In fact, they even produce a conventional chainsaw.

The implications of this is that they SHOULD know a thing or two more about the intricacies of these small tools.

As is common with many 4 -inch mini saws this one does not have a trigger guard but comes with a whole lot of extras which form part of the “package”.

So at this level, more than the 6-inch bar level, you normally end up comparing packages and not necessarily the mini chainsaw itself.

For example, this one comes with a two chains, the next one comes with three! Is that important to you…or not?

Essentially this one ticks all the boxes for a light weight mini chainsaw. And it has the LED light!

Now compare that with

The JPOWTECH

mini chainsaw with LED lightThe JPOWTECH (with its LED light) package has more to offer in terms of extras than the SOYUS although the price difference is only a few dollars.

It is however at a disadvantage vs the Soyus when it comes to pedigree. Powtech does not make a range of small battery driven powertools like Soyus does.

It’s advantage though is more due to its length of time in the market.

And it has to be said, that in the small, lightweight battery driven tool market, longevity in the market has to be seen as a massive plus.

This is because there are just so many competitors that a product can very quickly fall off the radar if it does not perform up to expectations.

So perhaps not an easy choice here. And if the LED light is the major requirement, then perhaps its a case of tossing a coin. 🙂

In Conclusion

Its not often that one would decide on which mini chainsaw to buy based solely on the presence or absence of a LED light.

But having a LED light “on board” will undoubtedly be an advantage in many scenarios so it is well worth consideration.

Have fun deciding! 🙂
