Small Chainsaws That Use Milwaukee Batteries

Why consider Milwaukee batteries for your mini chainsaw?

Well, Milwaukee is a well known and respected brand name when it comes to chainsaws. They make a variety of battery driven small chainsaws that are rugged and reliable.

This has not gone unnoticed in the mini chainsaw market and some lesser known brands and manufacturers of mini chainsaws have made the sensible decision to improve the overall quality of their offering by using Milwaukee batteries as the power source.

Some Mini Chainsaws That Use Milwaukee Batteries

Obviously some of these are actual Milwaukee brand small chainsaws, but scroll down and you will see other options.

The Advantages of Using Milwaukee Batteries

The problem with unknown or lesser known brand mini chainsaws is that the functionality of the saw is entirely dependent on the battery or batteries you get with the saw.

Often these batteries are of dubious quality and when they fail, the tool is rendered useless when you can’t find a suitable battery replacement.

So even if there is absolutely nothing wrong with the mini saw, it can’t function.

The main advantage of the mini saws that use (or can use) a Milwaukee battery is that:

– Milwaukee batteries are readily available from a variety of sources

– They are of a good quality and will thus not fail quickly

– They can be used on a variety of other Milwaukee power tools (but make sure you match requirements)

Here are examples of 12V and 18V Milwaukee batteries.

Don’t forget that the price of the battery will almost certainly be linked to the “Amp hour”(Ah) capacity of the battery, The higher the Ah, the bigger the battery (and heavier) the battery is likely to be.

However, the higher the Ah, the longer the battery will last on a single charge and the more work you will be able to do with that tool on a single charge.

You can see a range of different Ah capacity Milwaukee batteries here

The Disadvantages

No matter which way you slice it, good quality batteries are expensive to produce and thus expensive to buy.

If you buy a battery powered tool, including the battery, for less than fifty dollars ($50), then you have to think that the battery is going to be of dubious quality – at best!

So the (potential) problem with some of these non Milwaukee branded mini chainsaws, is that the battery is going to cost more than the actual power tool.

And don’t forget you will need a battery charger for your Milwaukee batteries as well.

Decision Time

So you will need to weigh up the options.

– Buy a cheap dubious quality mini saw with dubious quality battery that you may not be able to replace versus

– Cheap dubious quality chainsaw with great quality Milwaukee battery. If the tool itself fails you can buy another one and use the same battery versus

– Just buy the more expensive, but higher quality, that will last i.e. a Milwaukee small chainsaw with a Milwaukee battery.

Over to you! 🙂
